The Xtra Link, Model 172, utilizes the 291-00 IR Receiver which has greatly improved range and interference rejection. The 291-00 receives the IR signals from a hand-held remote, converts them to DC control signals and passes them to the RF/IR Injector where they are mixed with the RF television signal. This combined signal is carried over a coaxial cable. At the other end of this coax the signals are separated at the RF/IR Coupler and the DC control signal is sent to an infrared emitter placed directly on the IR control window of the component to be controlled.
